Their support was not just financial. It was a lifeline that gave me the confidence to pursue my ambitions.
A journey of the first alumnus
A journey of the first alumnus of the Candle to Candle (C2C) Program of PRF.
I began my journey in a small village in Punjab, where I received my early education in a government school. For high school, my brother and I traveled 24 kilometers daily on a single bicycle, an experience that built the foundation of my resilience, discipline, and determination.
My late father, a retired civilian from the Pakistan Navy, faced significant financial challenges in supporting the education of multiple children. Yet, he held a powerful dream: to see me become an electrical engineer. At times, that dream seemed beyond reach.
Finding PRF
A turning point came through a donor who subsequently helped shape the People’s REACH Foundation (PRF) and its Candle to Candle (C2C) Program. With the generous support and belief of the family of Rashid Ahmad, my path changed. Their support was not just financial. It was a lifeline that gave me the confidence to pursue my ambitions.
With this support, I completed my FSc and secured admission to NUST on scholarship, where I earned my degree in Electrical Engineering, proudly becoming the first alumnus of the C2C Program.
Where I am today
Today, I am working in the procurement department of one of the largest shipyards in the Middle East, in Saudi Arabia.
However, my greatest achievement is not just professional success. It is the ability to give back.
From my very first salary, I committed myself to supporting others through the same program that transformed my life. Alhamdulillah, I have now sponsored two students, continuing the chain of hope as a proud alumnus of PRF under the C2C Program.
Lighting the next candles
My journey stands as a testament that one act of support can uplift not just a single life, but generations to come.
In Sha Allah, the light that was given to me will continue to grow, multiply, and guide many others towards a brighter future.
